Employment Equity Act

The Employment Equity Act require all designated employers to submit an employment equity report to the Department of Labour annually using the EEA2 form.  As per regulation 10(11) of the Act, the EEA2 is a public document that can be made available on request.  The dataset includes up-to-date employment data, broken down by sector, level of skill, gender and population group.  The Department of Labour’s Employment Equity data is a rich source of data that could enable researchers and journalists to explore labour market trends and employment equity at a firm level.  71point4, a strategic research consultancy, have instituted application proceedings in the High Court against the Department of Labour seeking access to the EEA2 documents as per PAIA.  In addition, 71point4 plans to analyse and disseminate the data.
